Compare

Compare bank apps side by side

This section compares banking apps on the app itself: how it is rated in the app stores, how recently it was updated, which devices it runs on, what the bank says the app can do, and what Apple's privacy and accessibility labels show.

Every fact on these pages comes from the App Store, Google Play or the bank's own website, and each one shows where it came from and the date we checked it. When we could not confirm something, the page says “Not verified yet” or shows a question mark.

We have not opened accounts or tested these apps by hand yet, so there are no scores, rankings or opinions here. The ratings you see are store ratings from app users, not our score.

Features stated counts how many of the 10 features below the bank's own website states. These are store ratings from app users on the App Store and Google Play, not a Priceless Tay score.

Each app on its own page

How we compare bank apps

We compare the app experience only. These pages do not compare interest rates, fees or account terms, and they do not say which bank is better. Each app is the bank's official US app for iPhone and Android.

What we compare and where each fact comes from

  • App Store facts. The rating, rating count, current version and its release date, app size, minimum iOS version, the Apple devices it runs on, the number of languages and the developer name come from Apple's public iTunes Lookup API and the app's US App Store listing. The screenshots and the app icon are the first iPhone images on that listing.
  • Privacy labels. The categories under “Data Used to Track You”, “Data Linked to You” and “Data Not Linked to You”, copied from the App Store listing. Developers report these to Apple, and Apple does not verify them.
  • Accessibility labels. The accessibility features a developer lists on the App Store page, such as VoiceOver or Larger Text. Many listings have none yet, which only means the developer hasn't listed them.
  • Google Play facts. The rating, the review count as Google Play shows it, and the last updated date, from the app's Google Play listing.
  • Features. We look for these 10 features on the bank's own website only: mobile check deposit, card lock and unlock, send money to people, account alerts, budgeting or spending insights, automatic saving, virtual assistant, face or fingerprint sign-in, credit score in the app and apple pay or google pay. A feature gets a ✓ only when the bank's site states it, and we show the bank's own words and the page. We never use reviews, blogs or memory for features.

The “Not verified yet” convention

When a store fact has no source, or its check is older than our freshness window, the page shows “Not verified yet” instead of the value. App Store and Google Play facts are rechecked weekly and expire after 8 days. Features are rechecked monthly and expire after 35 days. A question mark next to a feature means we did not find it stated on the bank's site. It never means the app lacks it, and we only mark a feature as missing if the bank says so.

What we don't do yet

We have not opened accounts or used these apps ourselves, so there are no hands-on notes, timings or screenshots of our own. Hands-on testing is coming in a later phase. Store ratings are what app users gave in each store, and they are never our score.
