How to Choose One
- 1
Start read-only
A connector that can only read can't move money or change your budget by accident. Add write access later, only if you need it.
- 2
Prefer the app's own connector
Some community servers ask for your email, password, and MFA secret. An official connector sends you to the app to sign in instead.
- 3
Check it works where you are
Some connectors are in beta, on a waitlist, or tested in only one assistant. Match it to the assistant you already use.
- 4
Know how to disconnect
Before you connect, find where to turn it off, in the app and in your assistant.

Common questions
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets an AI assistant connect to an app and use its data. A personal finance MCP connects your assistant to a money app, so it can answer from your real numbers. More in What is MCP?
Going by their sources: Fifecta, Copilot Money's MCP, and Herbert say read-only. Parsons Money is read-only at the bank with some write tools inside the app. The community YNAB server is read-only by default with opt-in writes.
No. It's built into ChatGPT. It connects bank accounts through Plaid and, separately, your credit through Experian, per OpenAI's help article.
Be careful with any tool that wants your real password, MFA codes, or tokens. Some community servers for apps without an official connector ask for exactly that. Read the safety checklist before you connect anything.
